1908John Conway Menihan is born February 14 in Rochester, New York

1924While in high school designs a cover for Five O'Clock, a magazine published by Rochester journalist Henry Clune

1926Enters the Wharton School of Finance, University of Pennsylvania where he designs sets, posters and program covers for the Mask and Wig Club

1930After seeing an exhibition of lithographs by Rochester architect Walter Cassebeer, acquires a lithographic press and stones

1931Begins to draw portraits of socialites and newsmakers for Town Tidings - The Magazine of Western New York and the Rochester Times Union

1934Makes the first of two trips to Zena, near Woodstock, NY, to study with master lithographer Bolton Brown

1937Exhibits lithograph in International Printmakers Exhibiton, Los Angles, Museum of Art

1938Exhibits several lithographs at the Albright Art Gallery in Buffalo

1939Exhibits lithograph at the New York World's Fair Show

1942Temporarily gives up art to work in family business, which makes parachutes during World War II

1945"John C. Menihan, Lithographer" by Norman Kent is published in American Artist

1947Wins four First Prizes - in oil painting, watercolor, printmaking and drawing - in the Memorial Art Gallery's Finger Lakes Exhibition

1947Begins teaching at the University of Rochester

1950Paints portrait of Frank E. Gannett

1951Exhibits serigraph print at Library of Congress, Washington, D.C., and Carnegie Institute, Pittsburg

1952Designs children's store for B. Forman Company department store in Brighton, NY

1957Designs and constructs "St Jerome" stained-glass window at Nazareth College's Lorette Wilmot Library in Pittsford, NY
Creates a shrine to St Joseph for St Louis Catholic Church in Pittsford, NY
Paints portrait of Bishop James E. Kearney for St John Fisher College in Pittsford, NY

1960Designs and executes mural for Xerox Research and Engineering Center in Rochester

1964Designs and executes 112-foot mural for Security Trust Company in Rochester

1965Creates Stations of the Cross for Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Brighton, NY

1967Designs and executes mural for Rochester Telephone (the mural is now located at Rochester Institute of Technology's National Technical Institute for the Deaf)

1968Designs and executes mural for the R.T. French Company

1974Creates a relief sculpture of "Our Lady of the Grapes" in the garden of St Januarius Church in Naples, NY

1978Creates a triptych depicting the life of St. Elizabeth Seton at St. Thomas the Apostle Church in Irondequoit, NY

1983Retrospective exhibiton is held at Nazareth College in Pittsford, NY
